2009 Loudoun Master Football Schedule

Please note that starting in 2009 the following district alignments are in place:

AA Region II Dulles Distirct (7 teams): Briar Woods, Broad Run, Dominion, Freedom, Loudoun County, Park View, Potomac Falls
AAA Northwest Region Cedar Run District (5 teams): Battlefield, Heritage, Loudoun Valley, Osbourn, Stonewall Jackson
AAA Northern Region Liberty District (8 teams): Fairfax, James Madison, Langley, Marshall, McLean, South Lakes, Stone Bridge, Thomas Jefferson

Playoff Schedule: Region II is expanding the playoffs to eight teams from four teams with the addition of a new district this year (Northwestern District has split into two districts with Fauquier and Liberty moving down from AAA).

Broad Run Wins Dulles District Overall Points Championship

Ashburn (June 19, 2009) – Broad Run High School’s incredible spring season, with Spartan teams capturing six of 10 Dulles District titles, was enough to give the school the first ever Dulles District Overall Points Championship.

In the competition, sponsored by DigitalSports.com, Broad Run came into the spring in third place but the Spartans scored 72 points in the final season to vault into first with 149 total points. Potomac Falls, with 53 points in the spring, finished runner-up wih 137. Loudoun County was third with 124.5 followed by Briar Woods in fourth at 119.5.

Heritage (104.5), Dominion (96), Freedom (85) and Park View (60.5) rounded out the scoring.

The competition awarded points to each school on their teams fared in district competition. Broad Run took home district title in eight sports (football, boys swim,  boys soccer, girls soccer, softball, boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, boys tennis) and in forensics.

Potomac Falls won six district titles: boys cross country, girls cross country, cheer, girls swim, wrestling and baseball.

While Broad Run and Potomac Falls combined to win 15 events, the other six schools combined to take 11 with Loudoun County sharing volleyball and winning girls tennis, theatre and gymnastics.

Each school won at least one title: Briar Woods (golf, debate), Heritage (volleyball shared, boys track and field, girls track an field), Dominion (boys basketball), Freedom (girls basketball) and Park View (Academics).
