(Nov. 9, 2006) – We aren’t sure if Punxsutawney Phil will make an appearance but it sure seems like Groundhog Day as the Heritage and Loudoun County girls volleyball teams will meet yet again — this time on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at County with the AA Region II title on the line. It will be the fifth meeting this season between Heritage (21-5) and Loudoun County (24-2) with the Raiders having taken the last three matches including wins on the final day of the regular-season on Oct. 26 to clinch a tie for the Dulles District title, on Oct. 27 in a one-game play0ff to claim the district tournament top seed and then in the district tournament finals on Nov. 4.

Heritage Wins Nailbiter Against James Wood

Winchester (Nov. 9, 2006) – The Heritage girls volleyball team took advantage of its veteran leadership and a strong fan following that made the trip west on Route 7 Thursday night to win a tense five-game AA Region II semifinal at James Wood. The Pride fell behind early but Heritage, led by the strong play of senior Alana Rudkovsky fought back for a 20-25, 25-13, 25-23, 15-25, 15-8 victory that advances the team to Saturday’s regional final and into next week’s state tournament.
