Winchester (Nov. 30, 2006) – The rebuilding process started for the Heritage High School girls basketball team Wednesday as the young Pride opened with a 64-51 loss on the road at Millbrook.
Heritage returns just two players from last year’s team that went 13-11 and 7-7 in the AA Dulles District.
Freshman Ceara Scott and sophomore Danielle Launi led the Pride Wednesday with 14 points each. Another sophomore, Ashley Scott had 11 rebounds. Heritage has six sophomores on the varsity rotser and just five seniors and juniors combined.
Millbrook (1-0) was led by 6-foot junior Rachel Hawkins who had 2o points, 14 rebounds and eight blocked shots. Ashley Plaugher added 16 points and Tylesa Harper-Scott had 12.
The Pioneers led 36-20 at the half. Millbrook shot 18 of 26 from the free line in the game.
