South Riding (Jan. 19, 2007) – The Freedom High School boys basketball team pulled off its biggest win in the school’s two-year history with a stunning 67-50 victory over AA Dulles District leader Heritage.

It was the Pride’s first loss since Dec. 19, ending an eight-game winning streak and it leaves the district race up in the air with three teams — Heritage, Park View and Potomac Falls — all with two losses.

Freedom Eagles trailed only one time during the entire game and that was the first shot of the game when Heritage’s D.J. Summers nailed a 3-pointer.  The following possesion Troy Dockett nailed a 3-pointer to tie the game and a steal and layin by Richie Smith put the Eagles up 5 – 3. Freedom (3-7, 6-11) never trailed the remainder of the game. Heritage (7-2, 11-5) had a cold hand from the 3-point arc on the evening making only three treys.

Overall the Eagles played very well with Ron Hill finishing with nine assists , nine points and eight rebounds and Henry Brisbe adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. Troy Dockett lead all scorers with 20 points and Chris Coleman came up big off of the Eagles bench with 11 points and five rebounds.
