Former Pride Hurdler Les Bradley 6th at ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Miami (Apr. 27, 2007) – Former Heritage High School hurdler Les Bradley, running for the first time in a month, finished sixth in the 11o-meter hurdles at last weekend’s ACC outdoor track and field championships held at the University of Maryland.

“Hurricane Warnings” first went into effect last August when Bradley announced that he would be running for the ‘Canes.

Unfortunately for Bradley, his stellar high school career ended in injury at the VHSL AA Region II meet at Louisa County where he was injured in a jumping event and had to have knee surgery.

Bradley started the indoor season this January, even though Heritage did not have an indoor team, this was an opportunity for Les to test his knee. Although He did not advance to the ACC finals he did very well and demonstrated that he was fully recoved from the knee surgery.

The outdoor season started in March and Bradley ran at the Hurricane Invitationals where he finished the 110 hurdles third in his heat and then third overall with a full automated time of 14.41. He then suffered a pulled hamstring competing in the 200 dash later in the day. That injury would keep Bradley out for a month.

The ACC Championship finals were held at the University of Maryland on April 19-21 and Bradley was under pressure to compete well close to home, especially after not running for a month.

Of course, coming back from an injury was nothing new for Bradley who had suffered numerous injuries in high school, only to come back and win Dulles District, Region II and AA state titles in the 110 hurdles.

On April 20 in the ACC prelims, Bradley advanced to the finals with a time of 14.45. The next day the finals were held and Bradley finished sixth with a 14.47, just behind freshman teammate Cory Nelms, who ran 14.42. The four runners ahead of the Miami freshman duo are all juniors and seniors so the Hurricanes expect big things from their hurdlers in the next three years.

Bradley will next compete at the Reebok Invitational on May 11 in Atlanta.
