Sterling (May 24, 2007) – The Potomac Falls High School
baseball team, the hottest team in the Dulles District over the second
half of the season, defeated Heritage, 6-4, Thursday to win the
district tournament and clinch a bid to the Region II playoffs.
Sophomore
Jacob Kline, who has won seven straight district games including all
three in the tournament, allowed 11 hits in the complete-game victory
but he also struck out eight hitters with just one walk and he stranded
nine runners, including six in scoring position. Trailing 2-1, PF
scored four times in the third, with two of the runs unearned. District
Player of the Year Aaron Sweger added an insurance solo home run in the
fifth. Heritage got a solo home run from Joey Donofrio in the game and
the Pride had the tying run on base in the seventh before Kline shut
the door. PF travels to Louisa on Monday in the Region II quarterfinals.
