(Oct. 17, 2007) – Heritage High School freshman Kaitlin Pawlowicz and Potomac Falls grad Matt McLean were named as Oustanding Athletes for their age groups by Potomac Valley Swimming.

Pawlowicz, age 14, is a member of Gold Medal Team, Curl-Burke Swim Club, and coached by senior head coach John Flanagan. She was awarded the Potomac Valley Swimming “Outstanding Athlete Award” for 13-14 age group. This annual award is presented to athletes who were selected by the coaches within Potomac Valley Swimming. The award is based solely on the swimming achievements of the athletes from September 1, 2006 through August 31, 2007. Pawlowicz trains at the new Claude Moore Recreation Center in Sterling, and also for DSP in Ashburn which has helped her reach to the next level.
McLean, age 19, freshman at University of Virginia, and former standout at Potomac Falls High School, swims for the Cavaliers and Head Coach Mark Bernardino. He was awarded the Potomac Valley Swimming “Outstanding Athlete Award” for 17-18 age group. This annual award is presented to athletes who were selected by the coaches within Potomac Valley Swimming. The award is based solely on the swimming achievements of the athletes from September 1, 2006 through August 31, 2007. Matt has continued to excel in swimming and during the summer while training with Curl-Burke Swim Club and senior head coach John Flanagan achieved Olympic Trial cuts in the 100M Free 51:44, and 200M Free 1:52.03.
