Fredericksburg (Mar. 27, 2008) – Heritage High School grad Kaitlin Petrella hit her sixth home run of the softball season last Friday to break her own single-season record and set Mary Washington’s career home run record at 11. Petrella was also named the CAC Player of the Week.
During her hot week the sophomore shortstop led the Eagles to a 3-1 mark by hitting 7-for-13 with three home runs and seven RBI. Mary Washington is 6-0 in conference and 18-11 overall.
Petrella leads all starters in average at .400 and she has a .786 slugging percentage and .463 on-base mark. Petrella now has a dozen extra base hits on the season (three doubles, three triples, six home runs) and has driven in a team-high 24 runs.
