Baseball
AA Dulles District
Dominion 9, Freedom 5
The
Skinny: If Geoff McCowat and Ryan Skeffington (5.1 innings Fri for the
W) allow Chris Taylor to come in and close out games, then the Titans
could do some damage in the Dulles District.

Potomac Falls 5, Heritage 4 (8)
The
Skinny: Panthers pull one out at home with seventh inning comeback to
tie and then extra inning win. Game-winning rally: bunt, error,
sacrifice, intentional walk and sac fly. PF will take it.

Park View 13, County 3
The Skinny: It was double your fun for the Patriots as Park View got
five doubles including three from Jonathan Mason, who was 4-for-5.

AAA Liberty District
Stone Bridge 6, McLean 3
The
Skinny: Bulldogs continue perfect start improving to 6-0 by winning
Liberty opener for the first time in three tries. Ty Weaver had eight
strikeouts in 6.2 for the victory and took a shutout into the seventh.

Langley 17, TJ 7
Madison 5, Marshall 1
Woodson 5, South Lakes 1

AAA Cedar Run District
Osbourn Park 12, Valley 1
The
Skinny: The Vikes first ever Cedar Run District game didn’t go as
planned as the Yellow Jackets limited Valley to just three hits. Now
that stings.

Lacrosse – Boys
Non-District

Paul VI 9, Dominion 4
The Skinny: Titan goalie Britton Miller may still be seeing shots in his sleep as he snagged 16 saves to keep this match close.

Freedom 15, Freedom-PW 0
The
Skinny: Eagles get their first win on the year by knocking off that
“copy-cat” school from Prince William. Mike “Bring in Da” Funk and
Victor Farrell each had four goals for the real Eagles.

Valley 15, Stone Bridge 4
The Skinny: Viking boys were not about to let this night be a Bulldog sweep.

Lacrosse – Girls
Non-District

Stone Bridge 8, Valley 7
The
Skinny: First-year Stone Bridge coach Kristin Howard called this win on
the road an “emotional victory” for the Bulldogs. Back-and-forth game
ends with SB scoring final two goals in waning moments.

Soccer – Boys
AA Dulles District
Broad Run 3, Briar Woods 0
The
Skinny: Reatagui, Leahy and Cerritos are not a law firm … they are
the three Spartans that scored in this “backyard brawl” .

Dominion 5, Freedom 1
The Skinny: They are scoring and the Titans have some defense as they have only given up two goals in three games … both PKs.

Park View 2, County 1
The
Skinny: Arturo Jimenez chalks up a win in his Dulles District debut as
head coach of the boys after moving over from the girls side this
season. And PV did it without K.C. Onyeador scoring as Alex Valesco and
Jose Garcia both scored.

Heritage 1, Potomac Falls 0
The
Skinny: Wow! What else can we say … Uche Onyeador’s march towards the
VHSL all-time goal scoring record is sidetracked by the Pride and
first-year coach Betsy Munson.

Non-District
Stone Bridge 3, Robinson 2
The
Skinny: A free kick from long-distance by Chris Kamara and a gust of
wind helped set-up the game-winning goal by Won Seo with four minutes
to go in this battle of teams ranked in the WashPost early polls. Won
indeed!

Soccer – Girls
AA Dulles District

Broad Run 3, Briar Woods 0
The Skinny: Spartans start 2008 right where they left off in 2007 … on top of the district standings.

Dominion 2, Freedom 2 (OT)
The
Skinny: Freedom led 2-0 in this affair before Titans came back with two
in the second half to tie, the second coming after a hand ball in the
box resulted in a PK. Neither team could break the tie in OT.

Heritage 1, Potomac Falls 0
The
Skinny: The Pride girls take a page out of the boys book and knock off
PF 1-0. The goal came early and strong team defense and goaltending
kept it 1-nill.

Loudoun County 5, Park View 0
The
Skinny: In 2007 injuries played a role in limiting the Raiders and LC
got off to rough start Friday with two girls sent to the hospital, one
via ambulance, in a 5-0 win. In a strange twist, coaches agreed to end
game with eight minutes left as injured player was being tended to,
only to be told that they had to finish the contest and that couldn’t
happen until Park View could find seven girls to come back to the field.

Non-District
Stone Bridge 1, Robinson 0
The
Skinny: Melony Davis is money so far for Bulldogs with six goals in
three games after hitting the game winner with just under 10 minutes to
play.

Softball
Sports Plus Tournament (Richmond)
Broad Run 5, Cave Spring 0
The Skinny: In quarterfinal win BR jumps out with four in the first and that is plenty for Caitlyn Delahaba, who fans 17.

Broad Run 20, Arcadia 0
The
Skinny: Spartans kick off the tournament with a statement: Judy Betz —
BR’s #2 pitcher — throws a no-hitter and Ashley Kramer hits two home
runs.

AA Dulles District
Dominion 15, Freedom 9
The Skinny: Calling all Titan fans … we need your help …send us some updates!

Potomac Falls 4, Heritage 0
The Skinny: Panthers continue hot start … improving to 5-0 with freshman Heather Kiefer tossing a three-hitter.

County 2, Park View 1
The
Skinny: The Raiders have now won two straight against the Pats. Hope
Flanagan’s two-run single in the fifth erased 1-0 PV lead. Lindsey
Holtz scattered nine hits but good Raider defense limited PV to just a
single run.

AAA Cedar Run District
Osbourn Park 3, Valley 2
The
Skinny: Vikes spent two years in the National District with some weak
softball teams … the Cedar Run is certainly not a weak district as
Yellow Jackets hand Vikes first loss on the young season in this
district opener. Vikes left the bases stranded in both the first and
seventh innings.

AAA Liberty District
Stone Bridge 6, McLean 3
The
Skinny: Mike Skinner not only gets win No. 1 as the new Bulldogs
softball coach but does so in SB’s Liberty District opener. Now that’s
making them count.

Non-District
Briar Woods 16, Washington-Lee 0
The
Skinny: Did we mention the National District was kind of weak in
softball? AA Falcons pound AAA Generals. At 2-1, BW has matched win
total from 2007 campaign.
