Leesburg (Apr. 18, 2008) – The Heritage High School boys soccer team had to work overtime Friday to remain unbeaten on the season.

The Pride (7-0 in district, 8-0 overall) got a goal from Josh Thiel in the 74th minute to tie Loudoun County and then Amadu Bangura scored in overtime off an assist by Thiel to seal the 3-2 win over the Raiders (2-4, 3-5). Heritage first goal was scored by Bangura off a corner kick in the 35th minute. Luis Brun picked up assists on the first two Heritage goals.

The win keeps Heritage two games ahead of Broad Run and Park View in the AA Dulles District race. The Spartans (5-2, 5-3) downed Dominion (2-4, 3-5) Friday, 2-1, on a goal by senior Nemo Cerritos off a corner kick in the 39th minute and a goal by freshman Taylor Johnson in the 50th minute from a cross from Alec Scharf after a corner kick. The Patriots (5-2, 7-2) trailed upset-minded Freedom (1-5-1, 1-6-1) with less than 20 minutes to play, 1-0, when the Eagle sweeper went out with an injury and the Patriots then rallied for three late goals.
