Briar Woods scored all of its runs in the first inning and coasted to a 7-0 win over host Heritage Friday night in Leesburg. The Falcons (9-5, 6-5 Dulles District) earned their school-record fourth straight victory and won for the fifth time in its last six games.
Briar Woods did all of its damage with two outs in the top of the first.
Heritage retired the first two Falcon hitters before six of the next seven batters singled. Freshman Kasey Ball, freshman Jillian Olson and sophomore Kate Fowler had consecutive RBI singles, and, after a fielder’s choice failed to produce an out, freshman Alex Fierszt added another RBI single to make it 4-0. Sophomore Holly Dominguez then drilled a three-run double to cap the scoring.
The seven-run cushion was more than enough for Fowler, who allowed just three singles and struck out nine in her second straight complete-game victory.
Senior Megan Stejbach, sophomore Caitlin Blalock and Fierszt had two hits each.
