Sterling (Oct. 31, 2008) – The AA Dulles District girls volleyball 2008 regular season co-champions, Heritage and Loudoun County, showed exactly why they will be raising title banners this season as both teams swept through the tournament semifinals to advance to Saturday’s 7 p.m. title match at Park View High School.
It will be the third time in 10 days that the two Leesburg rivals have tangled with Heritage stopping LC’s 47-match winning streak on Oct. 23 in a five-set thriller to earn a share of the regular-season title and then the Raiders swept past Heritage on Oct. 25 in a one-game playoff to determine the district tournament’s top seed and automatic bid to Region II. Heritage, with its 25-19, 25-15, 25-22 win over Potomac Falls, has now also qualified for next week’s regional tournament.
First, however, the Pride will meet LC, a 25-16, 25-23, 25-17 winner over Briar Woods Thursday, on Saturday with another championship at stake.
