Loudoun Valley: Coach Troy Mezzatesta reports: ” We ended up 7-2 … We beat McLean, Yorktown, Woodbridge, Freedom, Heritage, Manassas Park, and Broad Run. The Heritage match was 35-34. A  good match. Garrett Swankowski was our team MVP for the tournament … We had a ton of guys hurt and even more hurt after the long weekend duals … Just hoping to get healthy for the Districts.

Freedom: Eagle coach Patrick McNanley reports: “The Freedom wrestling team went 6-3 on Friday and Saturday at the Loudoun Valley Duals.  Charles Constantino, Steven Marquina, Marshall Haas, and Joseph Sheptock all had very strong showings at the Valley duals. Charles Constantino went 8-1 while moving between 171 and 189 throughout the weekend, his only lost was to Bolan of Valley 3-1.  Charles improved to 31-7 on the year.
Steven Marquina went 7-1 on the weekend and defeated Jeremy Ryan of Westfield, who is currently ranked 5th in AAA and 1st in the Northern Region.  His only loss came to Dakota Thompson of North Stafford 10-9 who is currently ranked 6th in AAA and is undefeated on the season.  Steven is now 35-5 on the year and already has 56 wins in his first two years of wrestling! Marshall Haas improved to 27-12 this weekend while moving between 189 and 215.  Marshall went 7-2 on the weekend and has won 16 of his last 18 matches. Joseph Sheptock went 7-2 on the weekend as well losing to Nick Grinups of Westfield by decision and Matt Smith of Woodbridge wrestling up at 152 to get a tougher match.  Joseph is now 37-6 on the season with 22 pins. We are now 18-7 overall and 4-2 in the district … also individually we have 12 out of 14 wrestlers with winning records!  Our 2 freshmen are the only two wrestlers that don’t have winning records and that could change this week.
