(Feb. 2, 2009) – Potomac Falls wrapped up a third consecutive undefeated AA Dulles District dual meet season Thursday night with a 66-6 victory over Dominion. The Panthers allowed just 87 points while sweeping to a 7-0 district mark.
In other action, Freedom edged Briar Woods, 34-32, to leave the Eagle, Falcons and Heritage — a 53-22 winner over Loudoun County — all with 5-2 marks in district duals. Broad Run earned its second district dual win with a 42-33 victory over Park View.
It was Senior night in South Riding and the Freedom wrestling team showed up big with the two-point win over rival BW. The match was close all the way with Eagles Matt Murphy (152 pounds) sealing the win with a first period pin over Jared Beane. Overall, Freedom is now 19-7 on the season in duals.

Weekend Wrap-up

Freedom Runner-up at Warren County Duals, Including Wins over Loudoun Valley and host Wildcats
Steven Marquina had another great day of wrestling leading Freedom to a runner up finish to Millbrook in the finals of the Warren County Duals.  Steven went 5-0 and defeated Oliver Hiltgartner of Loudoun Valley and Bob Hauser of WT Woodson on his way to an undefeated day.  Tom Philbrick went 4-1 with his only loss coming to #1 ranked Jacob Crawford of Millbrook who bumped up to wrestle Tom at 125 in the finals.  Mike Surowiec also had a great day going 3-1 and his only loss came to Morningstar of Warren County on a last second takedown.

Loudoun County Third at Monticello
The Loudoun County Raiders traveled to Monticello High School on this past Saturday for their individual pool tournament.  The Raiders wrestled very well and ended up taking 3rd place overall as a team.  It was a pool style tournament where the winner, out of each pool, wrestled the winner out of the second pool.  
 
The Raiders sent 5 to the finals and had 4 eventual champions.  The individual champions were:  103 Tyler Anthony, 140 David Richardson, 160 Robert Griffin, and 189 Remington Lakose.  The Raiders also impressed in the consolation finals with: 112 Matt Robillard 3rd, 119 Alec Scheller 2nd, 119 Scoot Rossell 7th, 125 Michael Campbell 7th, 130 Cameron Acton 3rd, 135 Eric Acton 4th, 145 AJ Smith 7th, Zach Stevens 5th, 152 Kenton Perez 3rd.  Loudoun County will host the Dulles District Tournament this weekend.  Wrestling starts at 10:00.
