Boys’ lacrosse
Madison 8, Loudoun Valley 7
The Skinny: Viking coach Jeff Lewandowski reports from the game;

“LV lost a heart breaker today to Madison HS. We were up by no more than two goals the entire game and lost the lead late in the 4th quarter. Alex Sharrer made 12 saves in his Varsity debut. I was also very incouraged by our defensive effort today. We will come around on the offensive side we just need time. Being our first game I thought we played well some mental errors and turnovers late in the fourth cost us the win. I thought it was a very good beginning to our 2009 season. The boy’s played hard and never quit. We will learn and improve form this early season game.”
Severn (Md.) 15, Broad Run 5
The Skinny: Quality opponent for Spartans in season opener. Please report results to dsousa@digitalsports.com

Girls’ lacrosse
Heritage 1, Patrick Henry 0

The Skinny: Hmmm. This was the score reported elsewhere … anybody care to validate: dsousa@digitalsports.com
UPDATED: Seems that Heritage if reporting that Patrick Henry failed to show and thus the 1-0 as the score for the forfeit! Thanks to Jason Burke for the detail!
