(Nov. 17, 2006) – Heritage senior Rachel Young, who led her team to the state quarterfinals this year, has been selected as the AA Region II volleyball Player of the Year through a vote of the region’s coaches. Loudoun County’s Jenica Matthias, who has her Radiers in the state semfinals tonight against Brookville, was selected as Coach of the Year.
The Raiders also had two players selected to the first team, senior Amanda Arbogast and junior Marguerite Hanna. Heritage setter Katherine Buttery was selected to the second team.
The rest of the first team included: Cynthia Adkins, senior, Waynesboro; Danielle Caputo, sophomore, Sherando High School; and MacKenzie Tingle, junior, James Wood.
The second team also included: Caitlin Shelley, senior, Western Albermarle; Lindsey Hurt, junior, Fluvanna; Katlyn Shiflett, junior, Fort Defiance; Tabitha Bowman, junior, Stuarts Draft; and Brittany Swann, senior, R.E. Lee.
