Fairfax Schools to Loudoun: Just Say No!

By: Dan Sousa

(Dec. 14, 2007) – The bids of Heritage, Loudoun Valley and Stone Bridge to play in the Northern Region took a hit as the Northern Region Council overwhelming rejected the AAA Loudoun schools requests to stay in, join or rejoin the region starting in 2009-10.

The VHSL plans to ship the three schools off the Northwest Region’s Cedar Run District and all three schools are expected to appeal. The Loudoun schools, looking for some support from the Northern Region, received none this week as the council voted down proposals for Stone Bridge to stay in the Liberty District (18-8 with three not voting), Loudoun Valley to join the Concorde District (22-5 with two not voting) and Heritage to join the region in a district to be named later (22-3 with four not voting).
