Loudoun Valley Stakes Early Claim as one of Top Prep Golf Teams in State

Please check back later for video interviews with Loudoun Valley’s Scott Davidison and with eight of the 10 prep golf coaches from Loudoun!

Front Royal (Aug. 6, 2009) – The Loudoun Valley High School golf team didn’t like the way their 2008 season ended — with a long second day in the AAA state tournament — and the Vikings are out to prove in 2009 that they are one of the top teams in the state. The Vikes laid a solid foundation to that claim with a sparkling 289 team score to take the season-opening, 24-team Curly Licklider Memorial Tournament Wednesday at the scenic Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.
Junior Scott Davidson shot a sizzling 66 to capture the low medalist and lead the Vikes while teammate, senior Zack Bosse also medaled with a 71.
Briar Woods, which had just nine tryout for the squad this season, showed that what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality as the Falcons shot a second place 297 with Jon Howard shooting a 69 to medal.
Loudoun County, defending AA Dulles District and Region II champion with most of its roster returning, took third at 307.
Please check back for more details from this tournament including complete scores, a history of the event and quotes from area coaches …
